WEEK 11: TRANSFER SWITCH CONFIGURATION

Objectives: 
  • To make a configuration of changeover circuit.
  • To gain an understanding about transfer switch operation.
  • To produce output that can match the transfer switch limit.
Content / Procedure: 
  • Make a research about transfer switch circuit.
  • Complete a configuration of transfer switch.
  • Do a component test. Collect an old component that have been used in order to reduce a cost.
  • Hydroelectric generator must produce an approximately voltage to enable the supply line.
Result and Analysis:
  • The transfer switch involve an under voltage relay, 240 V relay, contactor, circuit breaker, photocell sensor and etc.
  • The change over process happen approximately 2.5 second.
  • The pictures of transfer switch are been shown below.

  • The relay are used to detect supplying power from each supply approximately 240 V. If one of the supply have a power disturbances below than 240 V, the relay automatically cut off the supply while connect another supply by switch on their connector relay.
  • For the photocell, it acts as sensor to allow the supply from hydro or solar according on the setting point; day or night.
  • If the photocell detects a light, it will triggered a relay and automatically switches on the solar supply, while the online mode hydroelectric systems will be in normally open circuit (not functioning).
Conclusions
  • Accurately, all the transfer switches parts have been built on one compact box to ease the configuration and control.
  • In other means, 3 backup power supply systems are be prepared in this systems.
